Publication director
The publication director is Grégoire Leray, in his capacity as president of the AMVCC.
Host
The site is self-hosted by the AMVCC, on infrastructure administered by Thibault Santonja and shared with the La Seigneurie de Coucy project. The host can be reached at the address and telephone number of the registered office given above.
Privacy policy
The site collects no personal data. The site sets no cookie that is not strictly necessary for it to work. No advertising tracker, no social network button and no third-party tracking service is embedded. The only exception, on your explicit action: displaying a video hosted by a third-party platform, described below.
Visits to the site are measured by Umami, a free software tool installed on the association’s server, in Europe. It sets no cookie, stores no identifier on your device and does not follow your browsing on other sites. It counts the pages viewed and their general origin (referring site, QR code of a panel), as well as a few anonymous actions: starting augmented reality or the general cause of its failure, drawing recognised, content displayed, playing a sound or a video, online video displayed, a character record read to the end or opened from the scan (only the short name of the record is noted), link opened (only the name of the destination site is noted). No camera image and no detail of page addresses beyond the campaign of a QR code is transmitted. If your browser signals a refusal of tracking (“Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”), nothing is sent. This data is only used for overall statistics, to understand how to improve the site: it does not leave the association’s infrastructure and is not passed on to any third party, neither in the United States nor elsewhere. It is kept for 24 months at most.
Audience measurement is active on this device.
The camera permission (used for the augmented reality layer) is requested by the browser itself and can be revoked at any time. No captured image is recorded or transmitted: the analysis is done locally in your browser using WebAssembly, and the images do not leave your device.
Some augmented reality content may offer a video hosted by a third-party platform. Nothing is loaded from that platform until you click “Show the video”; the warning displayed above the button names the platform. This click inserts its player, which then receives your IP address:
- YouTube (Google Ireland Limited; parent company Google LLC, United States), via the
youtube-nocookie.complayer: Google may place trackers on your device, according to its own privacy policy; - Vimeo (United States), player configured to refuse tracking (
dntparameter): Vimeo may nevertheless place trackers, according to its privacy policy; - Dailymotion (France): Dailymotion and its advertising partners may place trackers, according to its privacy policy;
- PeerTube, free software without advertising tracking by default: only the instance named in
the warning (currently
framatube.org, operated by the Framasoft association) receives your IP address.
Your consent applies to that display only and is not remembered by the site. Refusing does not deprive you of any other content: the title of the video remains displayed.
A “link” block opens another site in a new tab, only when you tap it; that site then applies its own privacy policy.
Storage on your device
The site keeps on your device, in the browser’s local storage, the images you have seen: when you scan a drawing, or when you open the content of an image in the gallery of a record. This list is only used to display “Already seen on this phone” on the Characters page.
- Key
tour-musee.collection.v1; value: the numbers of the images seen, for example{"v":1,"images":["12","15"]}. No date, no visitor identifier. - Nothing is sent: not to the site, not to its administration back office, not to the audience measurement. The list does not leave your device.
- To erase it: the “Forget the images seen” button on the Characters page, or clearing the site’s data in the browser settings.
If you choose to no longer be measured (see above), the key umami.disabled is stored in the
same way, on your device only.
These records are exempt from consent: they only serve a function you use and are read by no server (Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, “loi Informatique et Libertés”, explanations from the CNIL, in French).
Intellectual property
The site’s source code is published under the MIT licence (author: Thibault Santonja).
Editorial content (article texts, dialogues, subtitles) as well as original illustrations and audio recordings produced as part of the project are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Third-party historical iconography keeps its original licence (public domain, original Creative Commons licence, express permissions). Each source is traced and credited individually.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided as is, under a free licence. The AMVCC strives to ensure the historical rigour of the published content, which is reviewed by a historian before publication. A factual error or an accessibility defect can be reported by email to thibault.santonja@amvcc.com.
